How to Make an Appointment
If you'd like to make an appointment, stop by HSS 348. You can fill out a registration form online or come into the LAC and fill one out there. After you complete the registration form--whether online or in person--you'll sit down with a tutor for a short 10-15 minute interview, so we can find out more about the kind of help you need and how we can best support you. Please feel free to call us at 338-1993 if you have questions or need help.
The Learning Assistance Center (LAC), a faculty-run peer tutoring center, serves SF State students and faculty by providing skills-based tutoring across disciplines, professional development, and teaching support. Our program aims to help students feel included and prepared to engage in the academic community by supporting them in their course-work and helping them become independent, successful learners. The LAC encourages its tutors to develop personally, academically and professionally, offering them the ability to reflect on their own academic goals and their roles as tutors. We also work with faculty across disciplines, offering support and helping to develop teaching tools to better serve students. Through collaboration with programs, departments, and the larger campus environment, the LAC works to respond to the diverse needs of the SF State community.
